If you could commit a perfect crime, would you do it?

So first credit where credit is due this is based on a hypothetical that Thrill Kill asked in another thread. Let me quote her:

Now, I'm not going to ask you if you would murder someone in a dark, deserted alley with no witnesses, because it would be easy for you or anyone else to say yes. What is easy to say, may not be so easy to do. Of course, you could always find out for yourself...

I'm also curious about what would people answer to that one.

You can skip the next part if it's too long for you to read, the questions are at the end of post.

Skippable part:

So to commit our crime we would need to:

  • ensure that there are no witnesses and preferably choose an isolated/deserted place.
  • check that they're no cameras.
  • leave no DNA whatsoever, no fibers, no hair, no shoeprints, no traces, nothing.
  • possibly leave no body. That one's a bitch because it's hard to dispose of a body. Well let's see: there's fire but you need some pretty intense heat to completely burn a body and even then you'll have to grind what's left down to a powder and dispose of it. There's a chemical solution known as the Piranha solution but as with fire you're gonna have to find a way to dispose of what's left afterwards
  • have no connecting ties to the victim nor the scene of the crime. It has to be a perfect stranger and you can't have a cellphone on you and you cannot take anything as a souvenir.
  • immediately ask for a lawyer in case of capture, how many times have I seen that mistake on 'The first 48' show. They're always blabbing to the cops and as a result they've fucked up their case bad.

Questions:

  1. Knowing how difficult it is to get away with murder would you still do it if you had the perfect circumstances?
  2. Now imagine that you could legally do it (idk for instance we're at war or you're an executioner or whatever), would you?

My answers:

  1. No, I'm pretty sure that I forgot something in the plan and remember you only have to be unlucky once to get caught so I'm not spending the rest of my life in jail.
  2. Yes, I mean if it's legal I don't care if I have to kill I certainly wouldn't have any moral qualms about it.

The answer lies within the title. " A perfect crime" That would suggest that there is no margin for error.

So yes. If it is a perfect crime why not. Its win win

Yeah I should have put that between quotes. But that's also why I took time to go into details about the methodology and underlined how hard it would be to get away with it in real life (though some people have obviously).

Yes

Yes. Though, it wouldn't be as pleasurable or exciting if there were no real risks involved, because getting away with it is part of the thrill.

I honestly can't think of anyone I care enough about to invest that much time in planning such an event for. But if such a time ever came where I believed the need outweighed the risk then I would certainly find a way.

But few people are worth killing, it's much easier, and just as pleasurable to ruin them socially and financially  or have them suffer at the hands of an unknown torturer than to actually execute them. I prefer asymmetric unconventional warfare to a war of attrition. And while I am well aware that certain threats just need to be eliminated, I would suggest that it's much more pleasurable to leverage with intellect than brute force.

Psychological pain will last far longer than death.

Though I agree that it's far more cruel to make the victim suffer psychologically it also means you have a certain interest in the victim or at least in inflicting pain on him.

Some people are more interested in murder because it is the ultimate taboo and the ultimate violence you can commit on someone. There's no coming back from it. Some people murder for the sake of it without considering what the victim is worth to them.

Also you can do both: torture as you describe & murder when you've lost interest.

Without a second thought. I have even been thinking of a way that I could commit that perfect crime but I am too young to go for it at the moment.

There are many different crimes someone of your age could easily commit, so I am curious why you think age is limiting your options?

If the so-called 'perfect crime' you want to commit requires you to drive a vehicle and you've never been taught to drive, then I could understand.
