I had a friend who used to visit abandoned towns. He'd explore them and occasionally spend the night there. I couldn't bring myself to do that, places that have been abandoned by humanity just seem taboo.
He once told me he visited this place called Frontier Town in New York. He walked into a diner and went through all of the buildings. One building in particular stood out from the rest because the windows had been boarded up. He went inside and checked up stairs, only to find signs of recent activity. Their were fairly new boxes of cerial that laid empty and the floor was covered with newspaper clippings. He saw an article that was cut out on 9/11, one on Obama's election and even an article that dated only two weeks prior.
I told him he was very close to death. Living in a remote area makes you very silent and conscious about your noise level you would make. I can imagine some deranged man was within close proximity, probably following him and watching his every move the entire time.
Do any of you do this? And why?
