Do online tests actually mean anything?

Okay, so this is probably a stupid question but are online 'diagnoses' actually worth anything? If someone had Asperger's, could they score highly on a self-report psychopathy scale? Could a schizoid score highly too? Or even someone who wasn't being entirely honest with themselves?

So basically, does anyone here take these tests seriously?

Apart from Dexter (not sure what his account is now, look for the idiot who changes his account every few days), no-one here takes them all that seriously

Thought as much. Do they have any credence at all? I suppose they're just as disposable as online IQ tests.

Some of them are slightly reliable, but the person taking them could easily change their answers to get the one they desire, for example with the channel 4 psychopathy test dex always uses, I managed to get scores between 12% and 100%, and I'm definatly not a sociopath

How interesting, though, that the Financial Times readers score as the most psychopathic!

asperger would score low on it i have got a friend of mine who has aspergers in india to do it and he was pretty low.. 3 for both and 30-40% on percentages >.>

plus malevo on this website also did it and scored low on the LSRP  http://personality-testing.info/tests/LSRP.php

i had 2 of my other friends one has 2 parents with aspd so he's minor psychopath he scored pretty medium

i have a friend who is psychotic and other stuff she was pretty low-medium

http://www.aspergerstestsite.com/ this test exists for aspergers...

the psychopathic tests are not designed for aspergers so they wouldn't score high.. (would you betray a friend for money)

the online tests aren't a diagnosis..

a diagnosis gets you access to medications -.-

if someone isn't searching to be offically labeled or get medications then the online test will be just fine to get rid of any confusion they previously could of had

I know they aren't a diagnosis, dipshit. That's what the inverted commas were for...

Anyway.

If an online test scores you highly, do you think that means you would score highly in the real thing?

No, online tests are not meant to be taken seriously. You may get some insight out of the results, but any insight you get may not even be accurate. I'm not saying that online test results can't be accurate though either. I just wouldn't put too much faith in them.

If someone had Asperger's, could they score highly on a self-report psychopathy scale?

Yes, if they didn't understand the test properly and assumed that something on the test related to them more than it actually does.

Take dex for example. He thinks he doesn't have a conscience simply because he didn't care when some little fish died that belonged to his grandmother. You can imagine how accurate his results are.

Could a schizoid score highly too? Or even someone who wasn't being entirely honest with themselves?

Yes, anyone with or without a personality disorder could score high on the test if they don't take it properly due to lack of understanding or they're not self-aware enough. Any online test can also be manipulated to receive a certain result, which is precisely why online test results should not be taken seriously.

Dex is the only one here who does and he can't claim he doesn't, or he wouldn't be posting the same results repeatedly all over the fucking forum.

I find test results interesting, but they don't prove anything.
