Im disgusted daily by the people in my age bracket(18-25). I often dream of living in the 50's because of the simplicity of things. I admire the music and the common formal attire. I demand opinions.
Same age bracket as you. Our generation sucks more than normal, but I have an equally low tolerance for almost everyone. My main reason for hating this era is the environmental issues we're facing. That and I hate the people; not sure if that would change in another era, lol.
People back then we're racist homophobes, and women were downtrodden and abused. Pregnant women smoked and drank and popular belief was that it was healthy. Men were drafted for the military and our nation (well, my nation, America, blechhhh) was on the brink of the Vietnam War/in the thick of it.
Otherwise, yeah, I agree. Personally I would rather be homesteading pre-Western colonization. Then again, I'm a weirdo mountain lady and I doubt many people would be on the same page as me.
Not that it matters... It's not like we've figured out how to time travel yet.
Damn it. Until someone builds a time machine im fucked. I wonder if the next generation will be worse than ours. I can only assume. It seems like as time goes on society is deteriorating more and more each year. I often have this daydream that Im teaching my grandchildren about my time and when they listen to the music and see the ideology of our generation they are disgusted. I'd be glad to tell them I didn't do any of that bullshit.
I appreciate the advances in technology that have been made since the 1950's, as well as change in social attitudes towards things like gay/interracial relationships.
I think the easiest thing to do is to live your own life and try to meet people who share your ideals and values. There's nothing wrong with being an outsider to a society you look down on. And if you did live in the 1950's, you'd probably have wished you lived in the 1920's instead because you'd still be surrounded by shallow and materialistic youth culture.
I'm not a big fan of your generation either. Generally speaking, it's a fucking entitled lot and many in this age group are a pain in the ass in the workforce. Think they know more than they do. What the fuck is up with that? Mind you, baby boomers are irritating too - retire already, ffs.
Kids, be the change you want to see in the world. ;)
I hate people so when I can, I isolate myself. I literally live in a one room cabin in the mountains. I consider it to be pretty cushy. I've got electricity, hot water, and an electric heater, a screen in my window, good locks on my door, and my roof never leaks . I have done backpacking trips for months at a time. American backpacking is very different from European back packing by the way.
American backpacking usually means a tent, no civilization, and all travel done on foot through the mountains or another wilderness. While I favor the mountains, I've also backpacked in the desert.
I have an hour and a half drive away from the nearest city and I only have cell reception/Internet when I go to work. I split my own wood and grow some of my own food. This time of year is bad for growing food where I am, so I mostly buy and dehydrate fresh food and get canned food.
My neighbors are mostly animals. No people really. I know the flora and the fauna of the region pretty well and prefer their company to bipedal mammalian types.
Yeah, sharing my locale on a sociopath forum where people talk about stalking, raping, and killing people sounds like a bad idea. Generally speaking.
I may spend a good amount of time fantasizing about defending my life and limb with my Pulaski, but that doesn't mean I want to do it. Lol.
