Keep the ones we need for experimentation and information. While the ones we need no study for put to death so no resources are taken up. Simple and best solution, no more consulting. amen

think of it like this

you stabbed someone because they were swearing at you

you got charged and sentence like a criminally insane

every option to disprove it failed

would you want to be executed?

"We should put them on an island with sociopaths" they would stab each other with shivs.. and create their own community possibly make it back to society

you people seem to not realise what a sociopath is

the ones that"look" normal yet are insane it wouldn't take long for this type of sociopath to get gang raped and murdered by the sociopath who looks like a thug or organized crime member

I think that capital punishment seems archaic and barbaric, and am in favor of lifetime imprisonment instead, because I feel it creates a more civilized sort of society as a whole. I'm also disgusted by the mass hysteria reactions of people, and of media sensationalizing these crimes to sell emotions for higher ad revenue.

For anyone arguing about the cost of feeding prisoners, do you believe that all lengthy/potential life prison sentences should be converted into capital punishment, or just those of the "evil" criminals?

All.  A life in jail is no life at all. Our form of capital punishment is hardly barbaric. In the middle east they still hang people publicly. We do very private lethal injections which are painless and humane. 

Even if I cared what all these wastes of space and money felt like, we'd still be an overpopulated mess. Better to cull where we can. Call it barbaric if you will, I think it's barbaric that people reproduce faster than their resources can handle. 

In response to caring if I were the one to be killed; can't care if I'm dead. 

I consider the "eye for an eye" concept barbaric, not the specific methods used. The way people seem to take pleasure in seeing this form of retribution also seems a bit disturbing to me.

To continue the other line of thought - would you recommend capital punishment in the case of a 50 year old man who was sentenced to 50 years in prison for nonviolent crimes such as multiple counts of embezzlement/grand theft/fraud?

That's the thing though, death is not a punishment. Punishment is designed to help you learn. You can't be a better person once you're dead; you're dead. 

Yes, I would. Ask me about women who give birth in prison, young fathers, and people who are only 18 in jail for non violent crimes or even might be innocent in all actuality. The answer is still yes. 

We put down and exterminate other animals that overrun where we live but fail to deal with our own overpopoulation and general pestilent nature. Population control anywhere we can is a fabulous option. 

I'm not fully following your train of thought regarding overpopulation. It would seem to me that if indiscriminate population control is your goal, the optimal way of dealing with mass murderers would be to fund their efforts.

I am against capital punishment. It is not a deterrent and it swayed to imprison minorities and those with a very low IQ.
