Hm, the skills and experience are what I wanted. I also was a bloodthirsty kid.
See, I've never had a problem with killing and I've never had a problem with the idea of dying. Only thing that I hate the idea of is losing a foot or whatever.
How long have you been in? I was 0352 school trained, OJT cross trained to be a 0331... I love big guns. As a platoon Sgt and plt Commander I had rifle platoons. As a Co Gunny I had rifle companies and did my time with Hot Dogs & Soda Company as well. My antisocial behavior has contributed to my success... I think.
When you sign the papers and raise your hand you have written a check to the government for payment up to and including your life. "Ready to die, but never will"... Ever heard that before? You have to be better prepared than your adversary. You have to keep your head on a swivel and not let fear control you. Antisocial type personalities tends to do better with this... I think. Although Slime has a point about low end cannon fodder individuals going the grunt route, some of the most intelligent and talented people I have ever met are from the 03 community. "The best techniques are passed on by the survivors", and they tend to be common sense/street smart sound. In all my conflicts, I never actually thought I was going to die. After the fact I saw the imminent dangers I was really in. Some say I have been lucky... I say luck is when preparation meets opportunity.
