by thesugargirlignore this beast..take pity on her as the moderators before you did
No moderators ever pitied me and they certainly had no reason to.
by Luna Preyi really highly encourage yuo to read through the picture in the original post carefully.
it will tell you how the senior members of the community will work together to moderate itself
why are you so against sections? is it against your religion or something to post topics in related areas? it's not hard... sociopath related, and off topic for everything else.... why is that so upsetting to you? they both apear on the first page...
by Luna Preyyou're right, you are, but it will require more than 1 senior member to choose if a thread is moved or not.
Yeah...I understand why you'd want this Luna. Looking at the front page now, it's full of trollery. But you can never organize this place without moderation, and when you start to moderate, this place won't be this place anymore. Just another PsychForum.
The most obvious issue is there are no relevant threads in the first place. As long as anyone can post whatever they want on whatever thread, each thread is a mix of good posts and shitty posts. Sometimes a good thread is highjacked by trolls midway through, then it can get interesting again about another aspect of PDs that's not even mentioned in the title, then squirrel x starts posting on it again, and so on. Where do you place the thread? And after you place it in a relevant section, trolls will specifically target it, along with all the other "serious" threads, just because they're labeled that way. How do you still not see this is what's going to happen? XD
Poan:"haha and since when are you a senior member?"
The criteria in the original image states it just takes having 1000 posts to be one, so TK is technically a "Senior Member".
Emily: "and moderate only their own topic threads to remove off topic replies."
If this place was only on topic replies, there'd be much less to say, and therefor less posts. What's wrong with off topic replies?
Thrill: "You do realize that's a form of moderation, right? - Telling people where they can and can't post."
Not to mention revoking that power from those who don't do it right.
Luna: "i want thought out topics. i want quality information. not the bottom of the barrel trolls who contribute nothing but drama and insults."
So you don't want sociopaths coming here then?
Luna: "4000 posts and not 1 that provides value to humanity."
Who here's posts... have provided value for humanity? I don't think any of mine have either.
On Topic: 1000 posts is a lot to spam as a puppet if aiming for having more than one account's worth of voting power. I just question if 1000 posts is enough to stop them. With TK's posting rate, it'd take roughly 23 days. A spammer could make it take even less time. Here's a prime example where it's not even disrupting the rest of the forum.
How many Senior Members do you see playing along with this idea? I could see many vote threads into the wrong sections for shits and giggles.
I personally don't think this is a step in the right direction for the forum... but I guess it might look good for your packaged software idea you had a while back anyway. I see these steps going in line with what Edvard just said above this post.
