In the book 'The sociopath next door', Dr. Stout defines the sociopath as someone who lacks conscience.
Conscience, as she defines it, is 'a sense of obligation ultimately based in a emotional attachment to another living creature'.
What do you think of this definition?
I needn't see or know who I harmed to experience a guilty conscience.
Would that still be considered emotional attachment for another creature ? It sounds opinionated to me. At this point I'm still forced to concur with that definition.
Also if you have read the book, what is your opinion?
I listened to a quarter of it. It sounded bias and cocky, maybe cause it's designed to uplift those who are victims of sociopathy. Make them less worried. It seems like an ok introduction before moving onto a personalized point of view.
