Women have it worse, because guess who gets stuck with unwanted pregnancy, children, or abortion? 

In general I notice since women have their vulnerable reproductive parts INSIDE them, maybe that's why women are conditioned to internalize everything and try to protect things on the INSIDE. While men have their reproductive parts hanging out on the OUTSIDE so they are expected to externalize control, defense and protection on the EXTERIOR. I'm just guessing this might have some indirect connection with the social expectations on gender.
