So why bump at all? A bump just shows you like the topic, but have nothing to say.

New users ought to do what they want, and what results come from it ought to be resolved in a case by case basis. I never made a self-intro thread when I first joined, and I came out fine.
Insisting things be done one way is limiting.
Rules mean some can break the rules, some cannot. Rules are there to make the hierarchy clear.
Moderators are there to be adored and sucked up to, they are people above the rules, there to intimidate.

But even though I don't want more fancy stuff on this site.... I more and more we had an ignore user function. It would make things nice and clean on my end.
