For everyone who uses chrome and doesn't want to spend the time it takes to sit up a TOR...

Using a proxy is a relatively simple method of obscuring your machine from the view of The dick-tater luna. If you follow the enclosed method you can make it appear as though you are from anywhere listed: http://hidemyass.com/proxy-list/

If everyone does this, it will make her whole power move of banning users based on IP's impossible and thus render tracking IP's a moot point. It will also prevent her from tracking where the requests are coming from and thus, where you are located.

If you have any questions on how to set one up, feel free to ask.

Viva la revolution!... or some other gay slogan like that...

Portable versions:

I like to use Chrome with the ProxySwitchy extension, myself (either with TOR or with an SSH tunnel to my seedbox).

There seems to be add-ons of that nature, but I haven't tested any yet.

QuickProxy (or TorButton - which includes a few extra privacy tweaks for use with TOR) is a good extension for Firefox.  Note that you use that, and SwitchyProxy, in addition to something like TOR or an SSH tunnel.  It just makes it easy to turn the tunneling/proxy on or off.

Both of those portable packages work with Firefox.  The latter one should integrate well with FirefoxPortable.  Install the TorButton extension and that should do the trick.

Not only is this good for what we're using it for, but you could also set up an SSH server on your home computer and tunnel into it from on the road - say an unsecured wifi hotspot, or through your office's firewall.  Everything is encrypted between you and the server, so unless the machine itself is compromised with some form of spyware, you should be safe.

I swear, every time I hear Tor, I think of this guy:

I think of Davos Seaworth, the Onion Knight, from Game of Thrones.  Pretty sure it's Davos' anonymous network of choice.
