That's why I recommend you and Ed for flagging any trolls, so the main forum would remain that way.
Just the extreme troll threads would get flagged.
What's wrong with that?
Why not have a flag button ONLY KEY members like you can use to report.
So if you don't have a problem, then don't flag any!
Luna, if you can flag SP messages with a Mask or other icon,
why can't Senior Members flag Troll messages with a Troll icon?
See, TK and Ed have a very high tolerance and would let most of these slide unmoderated.
Only the really "out of hand" ones where even THEY complain would ever get flagged.
RE: who gets to decide what is "out of line"? there will always be bias and that will always lead to disagreement. it will make the subject of those decisions unhappy, and create resent.
Hi Luna: No the issue is not "out of line" because that would apply to member msgs who are regular.
it was only for extreme spam (that key members such as Edvard and TK AGREE are real trolling spam to move).
NOTE: the troll/spam threads don't have to be deleted if that's the issue, but can be moved to a separate section
on the forum for usmessageboard there is a section called the BADLANDS where such threads are moved
1. After input from members who even JUMPED on me for bringing up any possible alternatives:
I think the BLOCK/IGNORE function is better for each user to decide if THEIR account will not view those posts.
2. Is there a way users who post a Sociopathworld related thread can remove/moderate their OWN posted thread?
Can Senior members (ie were on the first forum) sign up to moderate ONLY THEIR OWN POSTS they started?
Can all users have a BLOCK/IGNORE function? a white list/black list to only see those posts?
3. since Edvard and TK stately clearly they do NOT want moderating AT ALL but let msgs run wherever they go
THAT'S WHY I would trust them to only alert you of REAL TROLL SPAM (not just annoying posts out of line).
They would NOT count any other member or sock puppet msgs, no matter how off topic or annoying.
Only if something is REALLY out of hand, like SPAM junking up your forum, they know the difference.
It would have to be extreme spam before they would alert you, since they made it clear they don't believe in it at all.
And you would be the only admin who would mark or move threads anyway. They could just alert you to CHECK.
I think ppl got scared off because the term moderating usually means accounts or deletion. I thought since the posts were going to be organized by TOPIC anyway, this would be marking the spam/troll threads to move out of the way.
