do you think people can be evil, as in who they are is an evil person?
The concept of evil is purely subjective and is almost always dictated by religious factions.
Take the old Norse religion for example. The only way to get into Valhalla was to die heroically in battle during the process of killing a lot of people. It's the fundamental reason why they raided so often. Can you even imagine what it would be like to live in a society that glorified violence to the point that it was the only way to transcend to a pleasing afterlife?
Try the same shit out today, then pull that defense in a court and you will probably be considered evil.
As of yet, there is no quantifiable proof that the concepts of 'good' and 'evil' even exist. Right now, all we know is what is 'acceptable to society' or 'unacceptable to society'. Sadly, if there really is some form of judgement when we pass on, the only real answer to your question will be provided then. Hopefully you got it right.
They both exist in the subjective sense, but actually being good and actually being evil aren't something that's easy. Most people are in the middle, for example. Torturing cats and having murder fantasies does not make you evil in the same way that donating a few cents to charity and listening to your friends problems does not make you good.
Dear Daddy and Justice. Have you heard heard of Scott Pecks book on People of the Lie and Glimpses of the Devil. He used to think demonic voices and obsessions were delusions projected in ppl minds. Then he studied the exorcism and changes in two patients severely sick with schizophrenia and evil voices they could not control, and changed his mind after they regained their free will. As a scientist he believed these things could be observed diagnosed and treated as other diseases though the spiritual parts could only be experienced but not necessarily proven since they remained abstract.
As for evil i believe science will be able to develop means of measuring and distinguishing positive loving energy that is healing and lifegiving, from negative energy that kills or blocks the positive flow. The difference is forgiveness and fear. Energy based on fear or unforgivenrss such as vengeance and wanting to control or coerce is different from natural energy that seeks to act or chnge freely with loving and mutual participation. There is a difference in quality.
