She didn't damage my life. My life is better now than it was when I was with my daughter's father, while she is still stuck in a miserable relationship with a guy (the same guy she was with back then) who cheats on her.
I guess that means the girl who spiked your drink was pretty powerful and ruthless too. After all, she had you running scared.
it doesn't matter if your life is better now than it was. that isn't related to the fact that she did destroy your family and almost got you killed.
yes, the girl who drugged me is ruthless, i agree. i didn't run anywhere though and i didn't convince myself that it was ok because my life would be better and hers would suck. i made sure the end result would be that she wished she had never met me.
Dear SG and TK: SG is right not to compare you two. No one's experiences or process can be compared with another. Taken out of context, it will sound backwards and not mean the same thing as to the person experiencing it. The fact that you are "functional at all" after going through these things says enough. Comparing paths for us to help one another along is fine, but comparing for negative reasons is just a recipe for misery. Please don't do that. You both have a different process and purpose in life, and your paths cannot be compared this way.
I will post a separate thread about Elizabeth Smart, who forgives and does not empower her attacker, and is positive and doesn't need to pick anyone apart. If more people can be more like her, these things in our past are meaningless next to that power. I went through crap, too, that could be blamed on me like "I brought it on myself" if you look deep enough. Those different perspectives are all true depending on what angle you take. That doesn't define me. Anyone in my situation, or SG or TK would act and react exactly as we do now. We didn't ask for that karma that we got stuck in; the point now is not carrying the past with us.
