Ok i will try to shorten this and give you some ideas how to get to know him and what interests him

1. First to be successful you pick things you are truly interested in that coincide with his interests. if you can find a political or social issue that he is passionate about, that could require longterm solutions. Can you find out and post to brainstorm ideas to research.

2. Can you find a subject you could ask his help to tutor you on. Is there some other guy in a class you can ask his help to impress. Or can you find a topic he loves to preach about and ask help to answer a post online whre you respect and listen to his advice. 

3. If you wont even let go long enough to hear someone trying to help you, how do you expect to get in someones head who isnt trying to let you in. This exercise is likely more about you than him.

If you are honest enough to admit you dont want to hear adverse advice, be honest that this is about you not him. Might as well make it about you and the best way is to do both. Are you up to it?

 How the hell do you have the time to type so much... It's really unbelievable.
