basicly right now, we have an ugly design in my oppinion, and the chat works... now we just have to safeguard from hackers. 

we won't be able to encrypt the data on the chat server, so you guys will just have to not give your social security numbers lol

 Have you considered using Jabber?  Supports encryption and is open source.  ;)

yeah, but then i wouldn't learn anything 

besides, by creating completely custom software, we know it inside and out. we can make any changes we want without unexpected issues. we don't have to worry about support, and updates, and we can make exactly what we want and nothing we don't want
