Huh. We share several things in common.

I live in the mountains and am also interested in self-sufficiency. Do you produce any of your own energy? I eventually want to get off the grid, but we are not there yet. We were thinking of keeping chickens, but I am not sure I want to be straddled with the additional responsibility of their upkeep, care and processing. How was your experience raising rabbits? I also love gardening. I believe my next growing project will be to plant a small orchard. What are your favourite things to grow?

Ugh. Chickens are filthy upkeep. Disgusting creatures. They'll literally peck the asshole out of one of their own so that it is left walking around with its entrails hanging out the back end. Goats are lovely, and they'll eat anything you give them. They provide milk, meat, entertainment, and are great for recycling paper and cans. Teach one to drink from a beer bottle, and you got yourself a drinking partner too!

One that I would call mainstream for lack of better world, one psychological thriller, one adventure, one scifi and two young adult.

We will go solar when we can afford it. It is some years ahead though. Unless you count wood burning stoves.

Raising rabbits is fine as long as you have good, sturdy outdoor cages for them. They can live like that even in the winter. If you have a lot of grass and dandelions they basically cost you nothing. We have long winters so I ended up spending on hay which actually made the critters cost more than I got out of them. So if you want to be on plus with this you have to make your own hay from long straw. Rabbits can't eat what comes out of a lawn mower. Also if you have a surplus of apples it helps a lot.

I had to take the rabbits into town which wasn't so nice, rabbits are very, very messy animals and very destructive. Easy cleaning outdoor cages plus grazing cages is almost a must, or if you have a barn. Even in summer when they can feed themselves you need to be present if you don't have a watering system. They drink a hell of a lot. Otherwise they are very easy to keep, just let them grow, when they are old enough, kill and eat.

My favorite things to grow are things growing underground. We don't have the best soil plus a lot of deer that will nip everything off. Potatoes are good because no upkeep and no deer attacks. Also I like fruit trees. Because they are low maintenance.

Chicken are quite easy, the same as with the rabbits. If you have good land for them it is easy. If you don't have predators you can just free roam them, otherwise they need a roofed big outside cage plus their inside hut. The plus with chicken is that they are omnivores. You could even feed them roadkill.

Well, they need not be crammed together. And you need to keep separate groups if they don't get along. And their disgusting side is also a good thing because they are not picky eaters. Also some breeds are very cold resistant.

If you are in for clean, sane birds that give eggs and meat, the muscovy duck is good. Of course they shit where they are but all birds do. Even if they are waterfowl they do not require more than a small bath. They can easily be taught to follow you around. Some wing clipping is needed because they can fly. The downside is that they are picky eaters. Who wants to buy food? Also in the winter they need to sleep in a barn or similar. But I rather deal with them than chicken.

I like goats, I like their temperment and also that they aren't solely grass eater but will eat brushes and branches. Unless they escape you can have them clean up better than any machine. If I ever move out full time to my place I will have goats.

OK since no one has asked me many things, I will reveal some stuff here.

I had an online friend of sorts, he was a writer and also he did Nano. I was thinking of adding him as my Nano buddy. Guess what? He died from illness early this year.

I still have no real plot even if I have a lot of separate ideas.

Some questions to self that no one cares about:

Sensy, do you have a pretty hand writing? No. It looks terrible.

Are you left handed? No.

Can you show us some art you made? Maybe in the future.

Will we hate it? Probably.

What did you do yesterday? I smacked my head hard by accident against something in the kitchen.

Did you know that how you take your coffee tells about your personality? Kinda heard.

How do you take your coffee? Milk, no sugar. Lots of milk.

That proves you are a gentle soul.
