If you want to get noticed you have to produce something that targets any specific demographic...take Reddit for instance, one of the ways websites get noticed is if they make it to the front page...if you developed something that's interesting, addicting, and that changes often then you're good to go! Once you get people interested you can get sponsers and people will start taking you seriously.

Build an idea off that. 

You need to find a local group who does this. I know a local group and it's filled with people like yourself. They would inspire, support, and give good advice. A hackerspace is where creativity lives.

 You are in the entrepreneurial mindset which will become a trap in the fourth turning.  Expand your perspective while there is time.  It is not good to keep acting as though one is not vulnerable.  Expand, to be able to handle the loss.  One will get used to it.
