Being abused as a child does not mean you're a victim for the rest of your life.
Serial killers are the ones so full of angst, they release it impulsively by murdering others for their own perverted desires. A cold-hearted, unmotivated, yet charismatic person would never see a reason to kill another person unless strongly motivated to by internal, psychological problems. All of the serial killers we see have the same types of backgrounds. They tend to always have emotional and psychological problems from childhood and work shitty, menial jobs.
To be clear, the "victimized" here lash out by victimizing others. I strongly doubt you have ever killed anyone, so that must be definitely hypothetical. Your broken, angsty personality would fit well as a serial killer, though :).
We know now that Ted Bundy fell deeply in love with a girl and could not get over her. After she broke his heart, only after was when his serial killings began. He got back together with her only to break her as revenge later in the future. You could say that nasty break up pushed him off the cliff he was on from his childhood.
