Reminds me of the time I tried having a Dream Journal.
The results were not pretty, save for a few odd cases where it was like I was a different me that had one event earlier in my life go differently, resulting in an entirely different present (as opposed to seeing eldritch horrors).
One of those dreams was randomly super convincing. It was so over the top that I mentally rewrote my entire past and had that as the only memories I could access in the dream. Waking up and snapping out of it took me re-orienting myself to what was real versus just the dream.
Edit: The schizophrenia I experienced in the past may have been a culprit for my believing the dream was real. The vision was simply so convincing that my mind began to accept that reality in place of my own. Still feels like it actually happened.
I knew that trivia already... but I never thought to use it alongside an alarm.
The insomnia makes it hard to predict when I'll sleep, but I suppose if I just keep the clock by the bed I could just tweak it before I crash.
On second thought, maybe I'm better off not remembering them. The dreams weren't exactly fun majority of the time.
