The Swedes on this site make fewer spelling and grammar mistakes than you native speakers. Lemur is not Swedish, and I don't think SC is either.

You never answered why you type in British English even though you say you're American, Jay. Also, this is an odd hour for an American to be awake.

 You've heard of america being the "melting pot" before right? We are constantly assimilating from everywhere, even more so when you're on the net. I actually know alot of americans who use so called "british english" neither forms are "wrong" if the other person understands them and the line between the two is constantly shifting and fading. I fail to see the relevence. And as I've mentioned I'm a soldier... we don't keep "average american hours" we as the saying goes: do more before noon than most do all day.

 True, but don't they teach you how to spell in school? The American way? You just seem to use the British way of spelling constantly, and I find that very odd. I don't know of any other American raised in America who does that.

They teach you how to write letters the american way too, but don't we all have our own style of writing? Our "signatures" constantly evolve over time. I also tend to read a wide array of literature... So perhaps I read more british writers...
