A bit late for me to be on topic, but hey.

I've studied a lot on poisons at random points in my life. I find them very interesting. Killing someone with something fun like Ergot by picking a victim I could torment repeatedly is how I'd go about it in a fantasy killer scenario, especially since it comes from grain, and thus can be a poison that can be found in improperly prepared grain-based foods. Being unaware they're being poisoned is key.

There's a dark beauty to watching someone lose their mental centering forcefully. Watching a person unravel can be rather revealing about their character in ways you'd not have learned without breaking them somehow. In the land of make believe I am not the intimate sort of killer that is glorified as a true villain in fiction, instead the sort of person who'd want to learn more about the victims as they lose themselves on their own, the kind of person who'd watch the fruit of my labor unfold for an indirect payoff. I'd prefer to study as opposed to interract.

It's fun to look at history in the contexts of poisons, be it the fashion choices to hide it, such as in a poison ring slot, cooking techniques to make it harder to notice, harvesting it after creating the proper conditions for it, the reasoning behind why they were justified in poisoning someone, and the responses those poisoned have to it.

It could be seen as a refined method of killing, that imparts the maximum psychological feedback, due in part to the time it takes to exsanguinate the victim.
