I always disliked French. I refused to have anything to do with it. Where I went to school you could pick Russian or Spanish instead of French.
Why Russian? Do you live in Alaska maybe?
Why Spanish makes the same sense... We don't have a hispanic population. Spanish and Russian are world languages. That's why.

German was dropped as an option for me, but there was Latin, Spanish, Chinese, and French.
