Compared to English, yes it is easy, but it is about as easy as any romantic language. Many Latin words or roots are used in English, so there are many similarities, and if you live in the U.S. you may see Spanish words around everywhere. However, structurally, it is significantly different.
It IS an easy language to learn. First reason is they speak rather clearly so it is easy to make words out. Also they spell most anything the way they say it!!!! Can't say that about English. They have a few oddities like silent "h" but nothing really complicated. The grammar might seem a bit rough on someone speaking English though. But that's all.
I took some Spanish in school, together with a bunch of other languages. I've forgotten a lot of it, but if I wanted to brush it up I assume that would be quite easy.
Learning languages make you more intelligent.

I hear Spanish is the 2nd native langauge in the US, which is why the president speaks both languages. Though I'm not sure if Obama speaks it, I'll have to look that up. He's suppose to.
Spanish and Portuguese are very alike and share a lot of the same words. Is that right ?
