It takes a couple years to gear up for the real war, but we can expect terrorist attacks soon... starting over seas then likely gaining momentum her in the US later on. There is a good chance that we will go through serious financial issues as spatial mentioned. They will play the silent war first. If that escalates there is a likelyhood of ground air and sea battle, high ammounts of cyber warfare that could potentially cripple our modern world. This would probably lead to panic, riots, etc... the national guard would be pulled in for state of emergency in larger cities... the army would reinitiate the "surge" as they did during the iraq invasion, there's also a good chance for the draft to come into effect...
All that is purely speculation ofcourse, but it's something to think about... might be worth buying a weapon and some ammo though...

Yeah yea yeah, end of days, 666, 4 horsemen blah blah blah mark of the beast?? SIGN ME UP! I hate having to deal with cash...
But to tell you the truth, we are still a ways off from using this technology in a financial context... simply because of the security issues... RFID chips are notoriously easy to replicate (hack) even remotely, so unless you're gonna walk around everywhere with an alluminum foil glove over your hand all the time, it's not likely that we'll be using this tech for anything important any time soon.
