Oh, she absolutely kicked him out for being unfaithful- and for dealing and consuming cocaine.

When he hit me, she'd be wailing hysterically in the background. Sometimes she'd hit him from behind, and he'd shrug her off, punch a hole through the wall, and stalk off angrily, or something. Mercifully, his rages petered out quickly.

 again, most likely making it about herself. your father probably wouldn't strike her back because he knew this would, without a doubt, get him kicked out, but he knew doing the same to you would be acceptable. can't you accept that she's a heartless bitch?

I could accept it if she were, but she really isn't. Especially not at this stage of her life. My folks have mellowed out more than I could have ever imagined possible. Watching them is almost surreal when I consider the environment in which I grew up.

 hmm..do you have/plan on having children? and if you do, does your mother have regular contact with them?

Sure. But she lives a fair distance from me, so our contact is minimized.

 any siblings? and are they close to her?

Yes. One brother with full-fledged, clinical ASPD and a sister who was like a second mother to me. She was recently diagnosed with cancer. My mother cries all the time. I haven't managed to squirt out a single tear, but I do love her, in my own fashion. :(

I grew up as an only child. I have one half brother from a relationship my dad had with a woman he knew as a young man. She dumped him after he spent almost a decade in jail, and she didn't want him to have anything to do with her son when he got out. So I only met him once. He is the spitting image of my father. Even sounds like him.
