Look at where guns are allowed and look at crime rates. If I am a criminal and I have a gun, how hard is it to do anything I want? Then people say, well give everyone guns and someone can use one defensively. No, it doesn't work that way, it just makes sure any fucking moron can obtain one. Kids shoot themselves with them, people rob each other with them. They shouldn't be out there, but so many are already in circulation that I don't know how we're supposed to fix that.

Also the only reason we have these gun laws is because of our history of revolution, but the landscape is 300 years different now. They didn't have Apache helicopters and inter-continental ballistic missiles in 1776. It's a dated mode of thinking that we could revolt now.

Yeah... that's the bigger issue than anything.

Even aiming to regulate and follow every single gun and bullet is hard when they aren't all in the system.

People in the US will always have guns and there are never going to be enough successful gun bans to make a real difference in the amount of shootings that will occur. Maybe make the country better to live in.

So for the most part, people are using guns to protect themselves from other people with guns. I want one too, just because practically any idiot with a few 100 dollars to drop can take your life from you very easily. I ran into my local drug dealer at a library once, and he tried to sell me a Desert Eagle with the serial number scratched off, in the damn library (with it on him). That's how easy it is to come across something--it comes to you.

So I don't know what we are supposed to do because so many guns are in circulation already. I do think our laws regarding guns are way too permissive. We need way more extensive mental screening. You can't buy a bag of meth no matter who you are, but you can buy a tool that will kill someone if you just pull your finger? Doesn't make a lot of sense.

One thing to add to that--In Cleveland, parts of the city are not safe at night to stop in because there are so many guns out there. The police will even tell you don't stop at a red light. And there are way worse cities like Chicago or Atlanta. Giving people weapons is a ridiculous idea.

Look at Canada where their crime rates are way lower. Yeah it's partially because their culture is different, but it's also because they don't let their criminals weaponize themselves. If I snapped tomorrow I could easily get an AR...people who think guns should be free put way too much stake into communal sanity. Things turn into a madhouse quick, how many more shootings does it take to prove that?

you live in a violent city, top 10 in the nation, that sucks for you, what do you think is the cause of the violence?

why is your city more violent than others?

this video shows what happens when you take the guns away, another tool takes its place, is it less deadly for bystanders? yes. unless you are the one being targeted.

London’s Knife Crime Emergency: ON A KNIFE EDGE

but still does not fix the underlying violence problem.

how do we fix the violence and stop blaming the tool used in the violence? when guns are banned knives are used, when knives are banned clubs will be used next, are humans forever doomed to violent primate tribalism?

You write well. For everyone else, it’s like wading through the bullshit.

The vietnamese and the afghans didn't have helicopters or missiles. There'd never be a standing opposition, even in the revolutionary war guerilla warfare was prominent. Think of an American insurgency where pop shots and carbombs become the regular on authority.

The military has around 1.3 million personnel, American citizens own more private guns than people that live in our country at around 360 million, and this is standing peace time before they're being produced to be distributed. It's not only possible to win a war of attrition with the military, it's in the publics favor(thanks to the founding fathers).

Also, do you really think the military would use missiles on civilians? America is very aware that they need to cater to the support of their people to declare any sort of war. Anything like that used in country, even if for the right reasons would end in a massive turnout of support for the revolting side.

Like really, what insurgency actually hasn't had to fight against air support and missiles?

I am with you, even unto the end of the age
