In my experience hatred is more likely to backfire. Hatred and fear are manifestations of internal weakness and as such unstable sources of power overall. Love is stronger in the long run.
I see love and hate as two sides of the same coin: Passion. The more you open yourself up to one, the more you open the door for the other to come inside.
