Capitalism is broken, I don't understand why anyone would be running around with a trumpet singing praises for it.

It tends to just mean that they like money and stuff.
It's bold to assume you're thinking something that hasn't been thought of before. If you remove the modern society out of the equation there's literally nothing genuine people can come up with unless you're the next Newton, Jung, etc.
Anyways. Good luck with reinventing the wheel.
I recommend you do a bit of research into Dialectics and Morphisms so that you may understand the invisible threads that connect the pros and cons. They are merely tools that give you greater insight into your own and oppositions position because they reveal inherent contradictions that naturally unfold over time.
Also, you need to understand materialism or you'll make the same mistake most Marxists make - it is a grave one.
I hold this text in high regard: The history of materialism and criticism of its present importance / by Frederick Albert Lange ; authorized translation by Ernest Chester Thomas.

Ah, I admit fault. I am not philosophically materialist. I support the aspect of materialism that is linked to consumerism. I believe it is OK to value nice things. But not at any cost. For instance, I believe that "gold diggers" are practicing a very negative manifestation of materialistic behavior. But the concept of showing off, buying expensive things and cherishing them, and "flexxing" is encouraged in my philosophy.
