I believe the point was brought up that a picture could be reverse searched to find other information. Lets consider individual pictures to be individual pieces of information.

If someone posts a pic of themself if if fair game to be reppsted by anybody. If someone else gets a picture of them, from their social media for example, and posts it it could be taken down by request because that information (picture) could dox their entire identity.

If a picture is posted that was not posted by the user in the picture, but it has been altered in a way that reverse search engines dont recognize and linkbto the original, it is now new information. If a user has already posted their face, untraceable other photos of their face are fair game that do not lead to other information about them.

How about:

If you put it out there yourself, anywhere, not just here, and it's accessible to someone here, then it's your fault. Make your stuff private. Don't give people enough personal information to find your shit if you're worried about them embarrassing you with your empty LinkedIn profile. Internet 101. Didn't your parents tell you not to give out personal information to strangers? You think that applies to sending them selfies and shit? Duh.

But everyone has pictures of themselves out there someone else posted that they can't remove even if they wanted to. That's just life. Remove those from here. This covers business stuff like Cadaver, photos that friends and family post, etc. Things you have no personal control over. Mods will have to use their judgment to decide if this is actually the case for whatever image is in question, because I'm sure someone will lie and say it's a company photo or a family member's photo when it's not. Just leave people who aren't browsing SC out of it. Otherwise you're probably driving people away.

Yes, and I'm not sure where or when this started changing for us.

But everyone has pictures of themselves out there someone else posted that they can't remove even if they wanted to. That's just life. Remove those from here.

If it's more than they've already given away about themselves it's been grounds for take down as is.

The "friends" clause still needs more defining.

Things you have no personal control over. Mods will have to use their judgment to decide if this is actually the case for whatever image is in question, because I'm sure someone will lie and say it's a company photo or a family member's photo when it's not.

"Own Judgement" is specifically what I worry about.

Keeping a streamline, basic enough system can let it be bigger than any of us, and keeping to past traditions is a large part of preserving this forum's former voice.

Past a point, when is this website no longer "different" from other forums if we throw away our liberties in the name of safety?

Just leave people who aren't browsing SC out of it. Otherwise you're probably driving people away.

See... this is where I get off the train.

Where's that line? What if they're Youtube people for example?

Can someone explain what is wrong with "take pictures down upon request"?

^ This is basically it. End of discussion except mods have taken down info before on request.

But you're trying to overthink what is "more than they've already given away".  To you a pic they haven't personally shared is fair game to be posted cos it's still for example their face?
