its not "trying", its seeing those opinions as "less-than" and delusional, and wishful thinking that is either jealousy or anger based

Why would God need a soulmate? 

Either "Mankind" as a concept is, "Satan" became it, or he is his own soulmate through multiple aspects of himself meeting together to form something closer to the once greater whole (Brahman).
