an intense feeling of deep affection.

devotion, adoration, doting, idolization, worship;
passion, ardour, desire, lust, yearning, infatuation, adulation, besottedness

Love is an emotion that develops in response to a desirable trait or action. It may feel good but it's a sign that you're being and living more according to others wishes than your own (i.e making people feel important). It also implies a certain degree of submission and conforming.

Hatred in contrast is an emotion that develops when someone is not being or doing according to one's wishes. Fat girls hate skinny girls for being more attractive. It implies a certain degree of freedom for the hated but also a reasonable amount of powerlessness by the part of the hater.

But hatred also can bring another advantage. It can Stockholm people into liking you or at least telling themselves that and developing a traumatic bond type of thing where they defer to you through sheer fear and respect for your position above them. To me that is the truest form of "love".

Discuss.

If the love is mutual, both people will become each other.

Hatred in contrast is an emotion that develops when someone is not being or doing according to one's wishes. Fat girls hate skinny girls for being more attractive. It implies a certain degree of freedom for the hated but also a reasonable amount of powerlessness by the part of the hater.

Hatred is self-directed typically, but it's easier to take it out on others instead of focusing on ourselves, which is ironically seen as selfish when, rather, it is the aim to ignore the self that leads to the behaviors.

A surprising amount of things are projection, but how things seen within the environment respond within that lens of familiarity can change the projector slowly overtime.

But hatred also can bring another advantage. It can Stockholm people into liking you or at least telling themselves that and developing a traumatic bond type of thing where they defer to you through sheer fear and respect for your position above them. To me that is the truest form of "love".

It sounds more like cultivating catharsis to me, love is meant to be able to bite back.

The only reason Love is scary is out of fear of your own inability to face it's absence, but that fear means it means something instead of being empty, cheap, and easily replaced. It's sentimentality, but believed to be within the grasp of another instead of ourselves.

I think the more room that love has to hurt you serves as a gauge for how much that it matters, how much it can be appreciated. I'd rather live with the risks of pain than the predictable monotony of emptiness.

There is a certain passion and beauty in hate though.

Once they hit Stockholm though it's not really love or hate anymore.

I can't think of one advantage of being hated.

What's so bad about it?

I was trying to ask you the question that'd grant you the room to elaborate.

What's bad about "being hated" is a matter of one's own ego and the potential for causal damages. Beyond that what's so bad about people not liking you?

Okay, I will elaborate. I've been disliked or hated by a few people in the past. No advantages or positive outcomes came about from this hate. I prefer to be liked or loved as it opens more doors for me. I accept that not all people will like me. Thinking that everyone will like you would be naive. Hate is a very strong negative emotion that is not easily swept away. I think it's best to avoid hate if you can.

What are the advantages to being disliked or hated? I can think of none.
