Power can be usurped from within. Tom Cruise effectively became Scientology's secondary messiah, and Allison Mack rose to a position of power in NXIVM, a predominantly patriarchal slave cult disguised as a talent agency.

Charisma is the power source for cults, and charisma can wrestle for control just like strength can.

Motels aren't reliant on your patronage. You can decide to not use the place out of principle. Still, it sounds like all you are doing is inconveniencing yourself for the sake of being consistent about something you have no control over.

By "roach motel", I meant the roach traps with the rooftaps and sticky tape inside with an attractant in the middle.

So what you mean is the way they get rid of them is the important part?

No, me and Delora were using those traps for our room and she decided they were morally wrong and threw then all out.

Humans that believe all life is equal hold that belief against what every other life form knows or performs automatically...

I guess the way I look at it is like this.

A: You decide to not use the motel. They continue to kill roaches.

B: You decide to use the motel. They continue to kill roaches.

When it comes down to it, a motel that doesn't kill roaches is probably the one that will be going out of business. Don't all motels exercise pest control? Are you purposefully picking ones that are in the slums with landlords that don't care?

i decide to use poison instead. and QUICKLY kill more roaches.  i want to be rid of them, but not in a way thats more cruel than it has to be. yes there is a food chain. but does that mean if theres a dog i cant care for anymore and no one will take it, i should kill it in a slow way that causes suffering? no! i can kill a dog in a faster less cruel way, and accomplish the same goal.  i do understand humans deserve far more respect than a roach. but i also know that even roaches deserve SOME respect, such as not suffering if they dont really need to for them to be kept away.

That's a fair position. Do you think it applies to all life? Even mosquitoes, for example? Do humans have an obligation to not let something die miserably?

Actually, Elder Scrolls supports the idea of charisma as power. Reality can literally warp and change from worship in that setting to the point of being able to rewrite the canon. Usurpation however seems next-to-impossible by the nature of how that setting runs Gods.

Cults in our world just believe cool stuff, while cults in Elder Scrolls can potentially change history. The inner workings of the Elder Scrolls setting is very different from ours.

But in terms of the player, speechcraft is a weak skill compared to skills like say..... destruction, sneak, one handed, ect.

i dont feel we are obliged to not let an animal suffer, although yes i feel the same about mosquitos. i i think sometimes animals have to suffer for the greater good, and sometimes people do to. for example, lab rats for cancer research ect. but, i also feel like, why torture something in vain? or let something feel pain for no reason when you could easily help it somehow, even if that means killing it? however, i do think as humans with a higher understanding than animals, it is our responsibility to not directly torture animals for no reason. like, pulling off a flies wings, or cutting off a roaches head, and letting them live like that. but say, if a squirrel has a broken leg, its not immoral to not help it, no one should be forced to help if they dont want to. but it would be better as a whole if you did help it, with exception of fearing disease, or worry you may make it worse.
