If I get a better gpu I'll probably go back to Skyrim.
What kind of GPU are you running where it won't even run Skyrim ?
Here's my guess. Your PC doesn't have a proper case for modular additions. That a modern GPU won't be able to fit inside the PC case.
If you're going to suffer, do it with finesse so for you I recommend
Zotac GTX 750 Ti
Get it used.
What makes it good for the build I assume you have now, is how compact this is, and how it draws all of it's power through the very PCIe slot it'll connect to on your motherboard, without any additional connector pins. I know this card very well cause I happen to have one floating around here somewhere.
How good is it actually ? Pretty good for a broke person. Geeks still carry on how much of a warrior this little Nvidia card actually is.
Use it for 1080p gaming.
30fps is solid performance.
.
But wait. Your build is better than I thought and you're not as poor as I think you are, and want a better GPU for a dirt cheap ?
GTX 980 Ti ( Basically a Maxwell Titan X, but with less VRAM )
GTX 1080 Ti ( One of the greatest gaming GPU's ever made )
One is the cheaper than the other and they require your PSU to have the 6 pin power connectors

He probably has a laptop with intel UHD graphics or something
This is my pc build:
CPU: Intel i5-12600KF
Cooler: Thermalright Assassin X RGB V2
Motherboard: Gigabyte B760 GAMING X AX ATX LGA1700
Ram: TEAMGROUP (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6400
SSD: Samsung 980 1 TB M.2
GPU: Radeon RX 580 8 GB
Case: Corsair 3000D AIRFLOW (honestly should have just gotten a bigger one for airflow, but I find that a little heat is usually not really a big deal for computers anyways.)
PSU: Corsair RM750e G
I might just wait awhile to get an RX 9070. I was going to mod Skyrim to make the graphics a lot better and maybe play newer games like BG3. But also it's hard to mod on Linux and I still want the Nexus Mods App to improve https://www.nexusmods.com/app, because it natively supports Linux. (I suck at using Linux, but it's not really too hard to use for a lot of normal stuff and Windows is so shit lately with all the neo-capitalist bloatware and I didn't even care about the lack of privacy that other people complain about. I was even fine using Windows 10 when it was new.)

That's more solid than I imagined.
RX 580 8GB is a capable GPU for running Skyrim with or without graphical mods. Today it's being hailed as a legendary unit because of its refusal to die.
Which version of that GPU you're running will make little difference.
I know the card very well, I built a supercomputer with 27 "Sapphire Nitro RX 580 8GB Overclock" editions. Which at the time costed between 600 to 800 a piece.
Maxwell Titan X got baked and needs new thermal pads, so I put one of the Sapphire cards in my system and still running it. Just make sure the OS and Monitor was running at 60hz with this GPU. I run things between 4k and 1440p minimal.
Linux, for gaming I don't know. When I'm forced to get off Windows 10 for good, I'll start using Linux. Which is probably soon, but not really cause I hate Win Updates. Bloatware doesn't bother me, unless it bothers me, then I'll make it go away.
I don't game too hard these days. It's been a long time. If I'm going to play something it'll rarely be a new game. If I got an RX 9070 XT I'd do the same shit I'm doing now. But yeah, get it, and your system is good for another decade.

Your computer can play skyrim and BG3 just fine. Maybe tune the settings down a bit for the latter.
