Have you seen Cyberpunk? That's a good thing. 

That being said it is also the logical conclusion if corporations are given no oversight or price management to the point of Megacorps becoming equal to that of Countries in power (if not greater). They have wars in-setting over corporations refusing to back down. 

The prices are all so through the roof that people are more desperate than ever even within the luxury of tech, there's strings attached to every product, and if people can't afford insurance then ambulances leave them to die. The products on the market are literally killing people in more obviously blatant ways than our world, and no one cares unless they're rich enough to fix the underlying issues. Even their in-home washing machines are built to charge money like a laundromat, it's like Hotel Gouging on steroids. 

i think we’re more headed toward steampunk, the way everything is falling apart. swaths of cleveland had no power for a week  just now, because a storm blew over like 100s of power poles that were barely standing. 

Elon Musk ( Who voted for Biden and is now right leaning ) Is the leader of a possible Cyberpunk reality.

 solar is way more convenient even with cloudy weather

maybe as a backup…one good thing about the huge artificial push for green energy is that solar panels were overproduced. so you can get them for relatively cheap. what is this whole Greta Thunberg trip you are on about? i actually do care about the environment a lot myself, but i have some understanding of the need for a practical power grid solution as well

 you were talking about if people had to rely on steam. you werent talking about the power grid. 

i was talking about steampunk XD

not sure how to describe it, it's like late 1800s aesthetic with futuristic tech elements. so everything is "retro" (hence the "steam" in steampunk), but also modern at the same time
