I for one am fine with the direction tech is going, we haven't even hit the tech in Cyberpunk yet.
cyberpunk is not gonna happen especially with conservatives having the political, physical, and cultural infrastracture to revert things to the 1900's as they deny man made climate pollution.
Have you seen Cyberpunk? That's a good thing.
That being said it is also the logical conclusion if corporations are given no oversight or price management to the point of Megacorps becoming equal to that of Countries in power (if not greater). They have wars in-setting over corporations refusing to back down.
The prices are all so through the roof that people are more desperate than ever even within the luxury of tech, there's strings attached to every product, and if people can't afford insurance then ambulances leave them to die. The products on the market are literally killing people in more obviously blatant ways than our world, and no one cares unless they're rich enough to fix the underlying issues. Even their in-home washing machines are built to charge money like a laundromat, it's like Hotel Gouging on steroids.
