How does the development of embarrassment and "cringe" come about in children? I think there is limited scope for children, as they develop certain empathy and social awareness. It may be a little presumptuous, but autism having some developmental disorder may relate to it in this way.

How does the development of embarrassment and "cringe" come about in children?
I don't think cringe is modeled, I think it's something you're born with that develops further with wisdom. Past a point cringe becomes the generational divide as younger people try new things, yet at the same time tradition is cringe too.
Low levels of empathy tend to show the most resistance to cringe. It's based around the idea of feeling judged, and by proxy the room to watch another be judged as if it could have been themselves (Ingroup Cringe).
Openness to being cringy is the key to happiness, but awareness of said cringe is often the obstacle.
