TC's points still stand.  In the wake of overpopulation and other factors, same-sex relationships have a deharming effect on society, really.  That, or eradicate the Catholic Church, might be just as viable an option.

Society is about growth and it prefers aggressive competition over passively not having children. I'd say there are other reasons as to why society seems so accepting of people not having children that isn't really about sustainability.

Yeah, 56% of millennials have openly said they don't want kids, according to a study. 

Marriage in general is also at an all time low, which with it has carried a lower desire for kids.

 Immigration and people see it as a competition/advantageous to them when others are not having children. You get people who fluctuate on what they consider to be the "bottom line" for people having children and are cultured into seeing childless people as still having value as servants to society still or being their cucks even if those people are their children or relatives. It's cultural cannibalism and people being groomed into wanting it their way in everyway forever and no matter what.

I didn't figure it was about competition so much as seeing the problems with marriage as a witness to the generations before them. 

Divorce was seen as an option, but as an option it was shown to hurt people. With heightened divorce rates people saw it as more of an inevitability, and now with it you see a lot of couples who've been together for a long time without going through the steps of marriage to make it "Locked Down". 

It's moreso a lack of commitment, if not full blown fear of commitment. A child locks this down further, more and more people know about overpopulation, and it's harder to pay for things which makes having a child seem less desirable over the increase in costs. Pair that with more easy access to abortion and less will feel trapped in the decision that much further.
