Is rebrand really the answer? I feel like the current egregore is what holds this place together. Changing it could go both ways. New members could change the dynamic which could be good but they also have less commitment to the place. They also have no identity here. Could result in less drama/loss of older members and the new ones could just forget about this place and just be in their +20 discord servers.

I think best would be 1-2 more basic rules like no pedos, boundaries for turquie, bot protection (just an image number verification or so) and advertising. Seriously, I feel like people say recruiting new members wouldn't work but I doubt anyone has seriously tried it. I have not. I feel like putting 1 hour per week in for 4 weeks to make bait posts etc for 1 month could easily result in like 5 new members. Together with a more friendly and less paranoid welcoming culture (chill with the puppet disses) it would work.

 Im in 100% agreement.

Change the name to something other than sociopath. I mean, who wants to be with a bunch of sociopaths trying to stab you in the back? It's a dumb name anyway ;)

 I do

In general I feel like this place doesn't need thousands of people, just a steady supply of new blood like how it used to be at Nabble.

That kind of thing needs bait, which the blog served as. What would be our bait?

 Yes.

Perhaps a rebrand is not necessary, just ground rules like friedrich said

most important atm is getting rid of turq's mad bitch drivel and putting it all in one thread or just deleting it completely

Change the rules:

No positive pedo talk at all

(I have been thinking we should ban all proven predators such as Chapo, turquie, Jim, and the like.

no i disagree. they are a litmus test for how cool the place is. sadly i really believe the combination of tc's sensibilities/control and good's ambition are really pussifying the place in an ironic twist.

Confused that my post is widely ignored or people do not agree. You guys really think changing the name will do something?

Broadening the niche (sociopathy to general psychology/PDs) is definitely a good idea.

This is what you do in marketing; you start with a small niche (sociopath in this case), then aim higher as you build a userbase to give you the initial boost.

Imo changing the name would shatter the community, and it would cease to exist altogether.

Whatever it's changed to would become the new unified complaint.

It feels like there isn't really good names, just different ones.

Do we want to recruit newcomers indiscriminately? Everyone seems to agree that we need new people, but we're not aligned on what type of audience we're targeting.

I'd like to focus on long-term investments, so people who go through a minimum of pre qualification which changing the name would be a first step for

So for messaging let's broaden the topic and make it a mental health forum, which we kind of non canonically already agree on
