I started a fungal empire playthrough on stellaris to roleplay as a sapient funghi species, which made me google mushroom psychology
eventually I made them communal and adaptable but what bothered me is the anthropocentric political affiliation, i didnt see them being democratic or dictatorial - more like a hivemind
UNTIL a google result said they have individual sensitivity which makes my rp a bit more valid

Honestly, never happy hearing about mushrooms, mostly because of the people who want to talk about them. I don't care that this shit builds networks underground and that they are kind of like animals somehow. And Terrence McKenna and his stupid fucking Stoned Ape Theory. I try to be open-minded, I even have mushroom tea and stuff. But every time people want to get nerdy about mushrooms it just sounds so gay

I've had fun with fungus people in videogames, and have thrown some into d20 campaigns.
When you consider how they breed, it makes for an interesting sentience.

no, actually i haven't even been buying any and i just now realized i should be cooking with them
they are able to make deciqsions and have a defree of sensitivity which implies that consciousness is not a uniquely human experience nor is it mammalian or even exclusive to fauna, rather it is an all encompassing spectrum upo nwhich all chemistry lies
