There were periods before they were allowed to legally marry where they'd refer to people like us as "Breeders", as a derogatory statement of division.

No, but the label, being a simplification, began to apply to all straight people when they'd make more general statements about them. 

Even Bisexuality depending on the person fell into the "Breeders" range over how they didn't have to face the same struggles.
