Oh they rebooted it :)

They gave it a different title, but that is The Running Man, whether the producers and writers meant it or not.

No way, Running Man is vastly superior.

Gamer has some douche in a VR headset control a death row candidate in a first person shooter IRL through a microchip in his head or something like that. The movie is high-budget cheese and makes some odd choices, rather than good ones.

In Running Man, it's stacked against them more as a matter of circumstance, and the ones being hunted were actually in control of their own movements. Gamer's just fleshpuppets in a life or death Call of Duty LARP (live action role play).

I don't think we ought to be rewarding the winners tbh. Whoever wins gets to be killed quickly vs whoever loses dies slowly and painfully

How would you enforce the loser dying slowly when it was a gladiatorial death match, Nerf weapons?

With that, everyone would ask for a refund since the gladiators have no reason to fight one another. Dispose of that idea.

This is where my PCP plan comes to shine.

Idunno slowly means being thrown in a lion pit or something, faster means shot to the head, i just don't want to reward them for winning.  Or i guess kill the loser and winner gets to be a medical guinea pig for the rest of his life

I'll take your word for it .

I haven't seen the actual movie  :)

I must've been 11 when I saw Running Man on VHS. I thought it was cool.

It seems like it got a few things right about the future, there were no reality shows in the 80's.

There've definitely been reality shows since at least the 70's, like An American Family and Real People.

 Reality shows where people suffer.
