Thinkers in history be like:

Socrates suggested that the sensation is to some degree pleasant but to a greater degree painful.

Aristotle raised the question of why one cannot tickle oneself: "Is it because one also feels tickling by another person less if one knows beforehand that it is going to take place . . . ?"

Francis Bacon and Charles Darwin agreed that humorous laughter requires a "light" frame of mind. But they differed on ticklish laughter. Darwin thought that the same light state of mind was required. Bacon said no. When tickled, he noted, "men even in a grieved state of mind yet cannot sometimes forbear laughing."

Last post (of this tangent) I swear:

The Washington Post article actually makes a lot of interesting points about tickling overall. It's a super weird phenomenon, especially when I consider that I find a lot of forms of pain ticklish.

He was tickling too hard, she slapped him, he got triggered and broke her jaw with three swift punches.

Shit's nuts, and it all sounds very automatic.

I've seen people get fucking triggered from being slapped unexpectedly, it's a legit rage button on the wrong person.

Not saying he shouldn't take responsibility for his actions, but the word 'fault' gets a little fuzzy here, faulty even.

Either way I agree that nonconsensual tickling is legitimately assault, from how physical pain and tickling can feel pretty similar to me.
