sometimes your body does things but its not you

if you laugh when you are tickled its not you laughing its your body laughing and you cant control it

if you get an itch its your body getting an itch and you cant control it

if you pee because you cant hold it you cant control it

there is no reason to feel shame if it does something you dont want it to because of your surroundings right?

there is nothing to be upset about

but sometimes someone else can do things TO you that you dont want to happen. sometimes your body responds to those things. and then you realize its not just that you cant control your body, you also cant control the way you feel. but they can. they are controlling all that right now just by touching you, and you cant actually do anything about it.

someone else is controlling your body and controlling you and its so fucking scary

and maybe you cant control it but you still feel guilt

You can train yourself to respond less to it.

I kind of had to do it.

You can't control your heartbeat or whatever either, but are we only the things we have conscious control over?

I don't really believe in choice, I see most choices as largely being made automatically as a result of contingent elements going off in tandem. Once something has been done you can map the motivations, which to me makes those motivations become increasingly culprit for the choices that followed them.

Then by my worldview nothing is really anyone's fault.

...this is something I've had to contend with thinking about before, and by the end of it had to largely accept that a lack of self control does not denote a lack of responsibility over the outcome, much like if someone committed murder while manic or something. While people may be less at fault over this, they can still be judged otherwise over their tendencies and patterns.

This does have me wonder how it'd be treated law-wise if someone ended up killing someone while in the throes of being tickled. Some people respond to that reflexively with violence, since tickling is essentially a form of pain riiiight beneath the usual line for it.

Thinkers in history be like:

Socrates suggested that the sensation is to some degree pleasant but to a greater degree painful.

Aristotle raised the question of why one cannot tickle oneself: "Is it because one also feels tickling by another person less if one knows beforehand that it is going to take place . . . ?"

Francis Bacon and Charles Darwin agreed that humorous laughter requires a "light" frame of mind. But they differed on ticklish laughter. Darwin thought that the same light state of mind was required. Bacon said no. When tickled, he noted, "men even in a grieved state of mind yet cannot sometimes forbear laughing."

The News be like: Man charged after tickle fight gets violent causes scene in court

Meanwhile Reddit be like: Is tickling someone without their consent considered assault? (Spoiler: Lots of yes)
