IFS and other adequate therapists do not talk down to you
All therapists do, it's literally a part of their job. The steps involved with maintaining their position lend to a smug withholding attitude, and they tend to only seem nice for low functioning types over how they fall for the script. The sharper the disordered person otherwise is, the less they tend to trust therapists over how they won't have an actual discussion with them.
They can't share anything about themselves so the reciprocity is absent, they are the ones in a position of power where you are literally paying for their time which shows in their behaviors, they cannot speak as freely with the patient as they could a peer as per the requirements of the job itself, and they are expected to repeat psych rhetoric rather than have their own opinion to the point that it tends to sound like they're just copy/pasting the advice from elsewhere.
Therapy is great as a resource, and it helps for feeling heard up to a point, but they can't help but talk down to their patients when you read between the lines unless they are literally saying nothing. They are the one in the knowledgeable position, and they aim to use that to manipulate their patients, there is no room to bridge as equals over how being equals was never the point.
