I really cannot go home and expect the police to help me with so little info, especially considering I just got away with shooting up a school in this hypothetical situation where I got my phone back. The other option is die.

You would have been made to do it under coercion, that's different than if you'd chosen to do it yourself. As a hostage in that situation, even after shooting up a school you'd want to get away and to an organized source of law ASAP to get the power out of the puppetmaster's hands.
