when people say 'believe women' they don't literally mean BELIEVE THEM WITH NO EVIDENCE AND INSTANTLY CONVICT THE MALE. they mean take her claim seriously and investigate properly without being sidetracked by what she may have been wearing or if she has had sexual contact with the person before, if she has nudes in her phone etc.

believe women means don't automatically assume they're a lying slut, cos most times they're telling the truth. same thing applies to children and men who make such claims. ignoring rape is a worse crime than believing a liar.

I think consider women makes more sense, just believing automatically can be just as bad as automatic disbelief. Unless there is evidence they are telling the truth, as in my case, THERE IS.

yes thats what it really means. but cos the usual default reaction is 'theyre lying whores' i think the idea needed to be kind of extreme

So it's like an aim high hit low kind of thing, or pushing extra hard to fix a hard to solve social problem?

Not to nitpick, but all we've been going on from both you and him's been hearsay.

Right, because br just lies that he committed rape and then flees to another city for shits and giggles.

Raped person "this rapist raped me" rapist "I raped this person"

Turncoat: "welllllll it's all hearsay, there isn't any evidence any rape actually occurred......"

For all we know you two are still together playing a prank on us, all we have are the words typed which isn't proof.

Theres far more evidence of Delora's rape than your "rape"

By a court of law it's about the same amount of proof really.

Oh, where is your rapist to say they raped you? Technically you are actually wrong.

He has not publicly disclosed any such thing, and a lawyer could argue that how much has been said has been browbeaten out of him, that considering his circumstances that he was left confused. 🤷

Not defending him here so much as showing how this isn't an easy thing to prove. All that's of public record are the things you've said about him, and if that's all people had to go with as evidence it's not definitive.

Does this mean I dismiss your experience

That's fine, I'm not the one trying to remind everyone of it.

If you push too hard though you risk alienating your potential audience, slowing down the very change that was meant to be done in the first place by giving others a reason to not identify as readily with them. When you split things into camps a lot less gets done.

Softly delivering the message however also has it go unheard, so I'm not really sure what works.

exactly. and tbh i personally have looked at it differently since. i never used to believe women i disliked or thought were sneaky, but they're not impervious to it. there are still some i will never believe but for the most part i find when there are multiple accusers who are unconnected to each other i find it credible.
