I think it's cos people think you shouldn't have the right to suicide yourself. That only a mentally ill person would seek to do that and allowing anyone to have the blueprints is very irresponsible.
Suicide should be a right tbh
Looks like an escape pod.
Whats special about it ?
Its definitely an escape pod lol. Exit International

To qualify to use the pod, the person who wants to die must answer an online survey that is meant to prove whether they are making the decision of their own accord. If they pass, they will be told the location of the pod and given an access code.
Once inside, the person intending to end their life will have to answer pre-recorded questions and press a button that will start the process of flooding the interior with nitrogen, which will quickly reduce the oxygen level inside from 21 percent to 1 percent. “The person will get into the capsule and lie down,” he said, adding, “It’s very comfortable.”
He said the person will likely feel disorientated or euphoric. “The whole thing takes about 30 seconds,” he said “Death takes place through hypoxia and hypocapnia, oxygen and carbon dioxide deprivation, respectively. There is no panic, no choking.”
In 2020, around 1,300 people died by assisted suicide in Switzerland, almost all by ingesting liquid sodium pentobarbital, which puts a patient into a deep coma before killing them. Assisted suicide is also legal in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Canada.
The Sarco Suicide Pod is expected to be operational in 2022. The company has made three prototypes, but one was not “aesthetically pleasing” so it will not be used, it says. The company has not yet announced how much it will cost to use the service.
I am okay with assisted suicide for those that are literally vegetables and will never be able to enjoy the life they once did (or in a darker vein, neutralizing those that don't understand who they are, and never did, like mentally disabled vegetables with no self-awareness) but that is not something I would purely act out and state if I were in power, I'd at least let it be an option.
As for neither and just suicide from the stress of life and mental issues, while I would heavily advise against and I personally try to help those that I befriend from doing that, if they didn't I couldn't blame them.
In a darker vein in that aspect, there are some people who I view as incapable of living a long productive life, and actively could see turning into a mass shooter, and so I'd rather direct them to dying a martyr in a grander cause than transform into some retarded mutant that is forever regarded as a stain upon real society, but is praised by other cretins like it.
These are just my dark thoughts on how I imagine things should be, I believe such decisions should be handled by the majority. Unless Devs Machina says otherwise.

Agree.
But the thing still creeps me out.
It reminds me of the episode of Enterprise where they cloned Trip.
That one choked me up a little.
Directed by Levar Burton, ofc. His episodes always had an emotional punch that had to be more than just what the actors put into it. Like he brought out the best of everything the actors used to make the fans feel.
I think the pod was part of it.
It was tragic when Trip was in it bc fangirls love Trip.
When it's a pod for a stranger, it's just vaguely yucky and claustrophobic looking.
Making ppl pay for the service bothers me, too.
It should be free.
