Your parents' SES and yor assigned gender leave you a lot less vulnerable than I am.

I like knowing that there are laws against certain behaviours bc those behaviours lead to violent attacks against people like me. I also like knowing that most people are taught self restraint from childhood.

It's a dynamic balance, I guess.

The idea of not harming one another and not stealing's fairly universal. It's in tons of different religions in general, but culture has a way of having people draw arbitrary lines between different sorts of people.

I also like knowing that most people are taught self restraint from childhood.

That'd be the dream, yet now we see tons of overprivileged men wah-wahing about how their rights are under fire. It's always the victims being taught to not draw attention to themselves rather than society teaching people (around 73% men as of 2014 in the US) to not assault people.

Men complaining about PC updates to HR practices is absurd.

If the election results in my country are any indication, I think that 73% is a slanted statistic.

Yes, whiny overprivileged men vote Conservative, and subscribe to the entire overprivileged white guy world view. And the ppl who own Conservative squawkboxes like Faux News own a whole lot of them and turn them up louder than they've ever been.

But ultimately, the overprivileged group that that particular ideology serves is tiny. Women and poc who kowtow to those ppl look rather foolish voting/sucking up against their own interests.

Like the strange and sadly naive young black kid I knew who insisted on displaying his Rebel flag behind his little counter at the flea market... Just ouch.

Those are the people who are disillusioned with all the broken promises their gurus butter them up with. And those are the fools who tryta shift the blame on to women and Jewish people or whomever when it all turns sour.

Again, they are very, very loud little manbabies.

I read that the statistic is actually closer to 40%

What do you figure the percent of men who were reported for violent crimes as opposed to women?

It was 75.9% male in 2007 as opposed to the 20.1% of women. Not much of a shocker when they have privilege and higher T-counts, are involved with more crimes...

Men are clearly the problem. 😛

Financial privilege, yes, but gender privilege isn't really about class (other than poorer people being more prone to violence in general).

So... 60% of the violent people reported from your stat were women?

I'm not saying 70+% of all men, but rather that many among those who've been reported for violent crimes are men.

Um... no. You should have said "number of violent crimes committed by men as opposed to women..."

I was talking about blind studies where men watched simulations of violent crimes on videos (eg: rape, assault, extortion) and then were asked what they would do in that situation.

Around 40% had no clue that the behaviour they were watching was violent and criminal. They said they would behave the same way if presented with the same set of circumstances.

Ofc, these studies were done within 10 years of Zimbardo's Stanford Prison Experiment. Attitudes have changed since then.

I don't have high hopes personally, men are kind of a mess relatively speaking.
