If TC included the beginning of Exodus 21, he'd know it is listing the laws of rulers, not and not a divine perspective.
Aside from that the Bible suggests we treat our slaves as family, as back then it was common for people to shackle themselves into slavery in exchange for food and lodging.
"Dead flies make the perfumer's ointment give off a stench; so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor. A wise man's heart inclines him to the right, but a fool's heart to the left. Even when the fool walks on the road, he lacks sense, and he says to everyone that he is a fool."
- Ecclesiastes 10
"From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. “Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here, baldy!”

Ehhh I dunno about that. A lot of passages treat them like a farm animal:
You may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. Leviticus 25:44-46

Ezekiel 44:28 NASB “And it shall be regarding an inheritance for them, that I am their inheritance; and you shall give them no property in Israel—I am their property".
Ezekiel 44:28 ESV “This shall be their inheritance: I am their inheritance: and you shall give them no possession in Israel; I am their possession".
So apparently God can be a person's property. Now I want to own Him :P

God doesn't say it's ok. He doesn't comment on a lot of things in the bible. Some of it is just historical events... There's a warning of a judgment day.
