By cope I refer to "withdraw yourself from the game you can't win" type of logic, similar to stoicism
Based on my empirical knowledge aka experience, I noticed that asexuals turn to have the strangest, and most hardcore fetishes out of everyone, it just takes time to make them feel safe and slip through their awkwardness to reveal them (especially women)
The reasons seem to be the following in most cases:
Shame about sexual behavior/ attainance of a higher moral ground
Fronting as quirky, hollier, and more mature
Narcissism, "I am better than all these hedonistic savages"
Trauma, either romantic either sexual, doesn't matter, or some severe disappointment
Mild depression
Other disorders that take activities that have to do with social skills to extreme, like bpd, npd, or schizoid
Religion
In rarer cases, the person connects sex to some ideology, purpose, or ambition, that's irrelevant to the cases mentioned above, like "keeping it for the one"
The behavior described here can be shown to both women and men, usually they are either romantics or actual nihilists who connect sex to a higher meaning
Personally I see sex for what it is, another part of the competition to pass your genes (evolution)
However you can tell a lot about a person based on their sex preferences and fetishes, even reveal their subconscious in a way
What's certain is that, out of all the sexualities out there, asexuality is just as predictable
